Feeling Overwhelmed with Messy House?

Lets look at how to Clean Messy House Fast. I have been overwhelmed by the mess and here is how I managed to declutter and clean.

I have not been a hoarder or have been very messy but there were years when I was ill. This meant the house was messy… really messy.

Have you wondered how to get your house clean and stay clean?

I have…

I used to lie on the bed or the couch and stare at the mess…dust..cobwebs and literally cry.

What a Messy House Says about you?

I always wondered if being messy was a sign of being mentally ill? What are your thoughts?

Anyways I have read a lot of articles, books, websites, listened to podcasts, watched videos and here are my 2 cents.

I don’t think it is a mental illness… The house just gets messy for various reasons

  • Sickness – If you are not healthy you cannot focus on the house and that is OKAY
  • Lazy or Procrastination – This happens to all of us. This is because cleaning isn’t our priority at all. Except for a rare few people I don’t think it is for anyone.
  • Too many Things on our plate – We have office, kids, pets to take care off, extra curricular activities and by the end of it all…we are tired and exhausted.

Do not worry about what others think of you. They have no time for you. They are thinking about themselves and about what others think of them…

Just focus on the task at hand.

The secret to getting your house back in order is to have to less to clean. Another secret is to have routines in place.

We will address these later on.

What is the fastest way to clean a cluttered house?

The fastest way to clean is to declutter first, then clean. I follow the Flylady system and here is what Iearnt about cleaning.

Flylady has a system of organisation. Her real name is Marla Ciley and in her book Sink Reflections she has a wonderful system to simplify your life..

Flylady says, mess was not created in one day… so it will not clean itself up in one day.

This has helped me through a lot of days filled of overwhelm.

How do I stop being lazy and clean my House?

The only solution to this problem is to start cleaning. The problem is when we delay starting, it never really gets done.

I found that if I just tell myself that I will work on this task for just 5 minutes, I am motivated to begin.

5 minutes is not long and I have tricked myself into starting.

Once we start you will find that you will keep going on.

This again is not good ( as it will tire you out). So set a timer for 15 minutes and work in short spans of time. Take a 15 minute break and start again.

This is the most effective way to start and finish a task.

How do I stop living like a slob?

I have asked myself this question over and over again.

Where do you start when a messy house is overwhelmed?

Start with the bed. Making the bed is a simple step but it helps to calm the nerves.

Even if the bedroom is filled with clutter, mess, toys, clothes…. if the bed is clean… it just lifts the spirits.

That is where I started.

When I started to get back to cleaning and organising after surgery, I had a mental breakdown.

The house seemed beyond repair.

I did not know where to begin.

Thats when I came across a YouTube channel.

The lady recommended Flylady system.

I bought the book and read it and started implemented the system. I don’t know why this works but just reading the book helped calm my nerves.

Flylady in her book mentioned that lets start with the bed and that is what helped me.

How do I stop being messy and disorganized?

Hae systems in place. You can call them systems, routines… they work.

Make it a habit. Just like cleaning teeth.
